In this educational webinar hosted by the University of New England’s ANE-SANE Program, Justice William R. Stokes provides an inside look at the role of the judge in courtroom proceedings, with particular relevance to healthcare professionals, forensic nurses, and multidisciplinary partners. Justice Stokes was appointed to the Maine Superior Court in 2014 following a distinguished career with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, where he served as Deputy Attorney General and Chief of the Criminal Division. His oversight included homicide, drug, and appellate units, as well as the SAFE Program, healthcare crimes, and financial exploitation cases. He became an Active Retired Justice in 2023 and continues to serve Maine’s legal and civic communities. Learning Objectives Viewers will be able to:

Join the Texas A&M Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing for a free webinar focused on immigration resources and legal pathways available to immigrant survivors of violent crime. Healthcare professionals, advocates and community service providers often encounter individuals and families facing complex immigration concerns following experiences of violence, abuse or exploitation. However, many professionals have limited knowledge of the legal protections, resources and support systems available to help immigrant survivors navigate these challenges.

The Texas A&M Health Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing invites forensic nurses to a free webinar covering proper saliva-collection techniques for a forensic medical examination (FME). Saliva is commonly encountered in bite marks, kissing, licking, sucking, drink containers, food items, cigarettes, masks, envelopes, clothing and vehicle interiors. Importantly, it provides DNA, proteins, enzymes, cellular material, drugs, biomarkers and microbial signatures. This webinar will provide the forensic nurse with the knowledge to identify different saliva-collection tools and understand the emerging testing and analysis techniques influencing practice.
