Court/Testimony Training Through HonorHealth

Phase One:

  • Date: Tuesday, December 2nd 2025, 0900 - 1300. 

  • Location: Military Partnership - 7301 E 4th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

This initial phase will focus on the role of Forensic Nurses within the legal system, including:

  • Understanding courtroom processes and procedures

  • Effectively presenting forensic nursing expertise during testimony

  • Engaging in scenario-based learning and Q&A to prepare for Phase Two

Prework materials will be made available to registered participants on the 17th of November. Prework should be completed prior to training but is not mandatory.

Consent in the Military Setting

Details:  Join the Texas A&M Health Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing for a free webinar exploring the unique consent requirements for Sexual Assault Forensic Exams (SAFEs) involving service members. Civilian Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) and hospitals often have limited knowledge of military protocols, which can create confusion when caring for active-duty patients. This session will provide clarity on how consent is defined and applied under military law, as well as how it differs from civilian procedures. Participants will learn about the consent process used in military treatment facilities and how civilian providers can align their practice to meet military expectations and legal standards.

Details:  This course discusses the use of suspect exams during forensic care. Suspect exams are extremely valuable for multiple types of exams besides just sexual assault (ie, homicide, child abuse, intimate partner violence, etc.).
